Consider joining or setting up an internet-based local ‘freecycling’ scheme where you offer up your unwanted furniture, computer equipment and so on. And you can check the list for stuff you want too. Alternatively, ‘Swap Shop’ events can be organised, rather like a carboot sale where unwanted possessions are swapped rather than sold.
